HampshireFirst opens 5th location in downtown Portsmouth!

Manchester, NH –On the heels of their fourth bank opening in November, Hampshire First Bank has cause for celebration with the announcement of a fifth banking center opening. The new HampshireFirst banking center, located at 77 Hanover Street in Portsmouth, N.H., was once operated under First National Bank of Ipswich. The Portsmouth location now offers business and consumer loan and deposit services. Other HampshireFirst locations include Manchester, Nashua, Keene, and Londonderry.

“We are excited about spanning HampshireFirst’s reach to the seacoast area. Portsmouth has a wonderful community base that we look forward to being a part of and bringing our high-level of community banking to businesses and professionals alike in the New Hampshire seacoast area,” said President of Hampshire First Bank Jim Dunphy.

HampshireFirst Bank has retained all three employees from the once First National Bank of Ipswich, including Wendy Blouin, Supervisor; Jackie St. Onge, Customer Service Professional; and Graciela Stettner, Customer Service Professional. Hampshire First is looking to hire a Commercial Lender in the months to come.

MANCHESTER –Hampshire First Bank announced that it has applied for regulatory approval to acquire the 77 Hanover Street, Portsmouth, location from First National Bank of Ipswich. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2009.

The banking center will be operated under the Hampshire First Bank name and will offer business and consumer loan and deposit services. This will be Hampshire First’s fifth location in New Hampshire since the bank’s inception in 2006. Other locations include Manchester, Nashua, Keene, and the soon to be opened Londonderry banking center.

Hampshire First Bank has total assets of $147 million. The Bank’s common stock is traded on the OTC electronic bulletin board, under the symbol HFBN.

Heartland Payment System Data Compromise

MasterCard International has issued an Advisory regarding a data breach that occurred at Heartland Payment Systems, a third party payment processing company based in Princeton, New Jersey .  Heartland processes card payments predominantly for restaurants around the nation.  The information system at Hampshire First Bank was not compromised.  Hampshire First Bank has received a list of card holders whose card information has been obtained by fraudulently accessing Heartland’s data systems.  Those card holders have received notification from us regarding the breach.
